Do I need a GP referral?

You do not need a referral from your doctor to make an appointment with your dentist.

At your appointment

The dentist will assess your clinical needs and provide treatment if it is necessary under the DVA benefits.

At your appointment you will need to bring your DVA card.

We will record your DVA number and the treatment provided on a DVA treatment form that you will sign on completion of each treatment session.

Are there any limits to the treatment I can receive?

Annual monetary limits apply on certain procedures under Schedule C.  There are also time limits that apply on some dental procedures such as denture construction and denture realign.

The annual limit is not cumulative - so any part of the limit you don't use in a calendar year does not roll over into the next year.

Some Veterans are exempt from annual treatment limits.  For more information whether you are exempt please contact the Department of Veteran Affairs direct.
